Sunshine
Skyway Bridge
Saint Petersburg, FL
V.H.P.
Enterprises, Inc. is proud to have been awarded and completed the
contract to clean and paint the stay cable system and the barrier
walls of the Bob Graham Sunshine Skyway Bridge. The Florida Department
of Transportation required removal of the old paint to SSPC SP10 with
a four-coat paint system; zinc, epoxy, urethane and clear coat to
an automotive finish
An
icon of Florida's Tampa Bay, the Sunshine Skyway is the world's longest
bridge with a cable-stayed main span. The vertical clearance is 197
feet at mid-span. With a length of 87,902 feet, (five and a half miles)
it connects St. Petersburg in Pinellas County and Palmetto in Manatee
County and passes through Hillsborough County waters. At a cost of
$667 million dollars, the current bridge construction began in 1982,
and the completed bridge was dedicated on February 7, 1987. This is
the first ‘full repainting’ of Florida’s engineering
masterpiece. The Travel Channel rated the Sunshine Skyway #3 in its
special on the "Top 10 Bridges" in the World. The bridge
is considered the "flag bridge" of Florida. http://www.travelchannel.com
